There's an element of uncertainty ahead as we head into the summer of 2021. It is a concern about the manner the service we provide to the community will include the highly valued connections between people as Rotary members have experienced during previous moments. Although the mantra of "hands-face-space" is certain to become part of routine in the club, it's evident that trust is growing and that there is a greater number of face-to-face interactions. Rotary is, however, developed. The months that will lead up to summer 2021, it is unclear how we will provide service to our community, which is based on the human connections valued by Rotary members of old. While the traditional 'hands in faces will certainly remain a part of our daily practice, it's evident that confidence is building and connections between face-to-face are being made. Rotary is, however, having changed. Rotary has evolved. For the sake of keeping the business meetings we hold online we've reintroduced service as well as social gatherings in a face-to-face setting. For the sake of building an improved future for Rotary, we have used opportunities created by the pandemic as well as our traditional routines. It's encouraging to know that 75% of Rotary clubs are planning to carry on their "business like usual" routines. During the summer there have been a lot of Rotary club members have been seen in the public, focusing their attention on a variety of initiatives, including beach and river clean-ups, litter removal and beach cleanups. In a Rotary survey recently conducted, it was encouraging to learn about 75% of the clubs had plans for their regular events and initiatives that were previously beneficial to communities in Great Britain and Ireland. I am equally proud to see that our Rotary Support Centre team continues to supply valuable information and resources which help to promote these projects and maintain the infrastructure that keeps our members and public secure; compliance and insurance are essential. We are aware that volunteering with the help of Rotary creates lasting friendships built by the common experience volunteering for the community's benefits. It is incredible to see the way our members are able to come up with creative ways to solve certain of the most challenging issues. I am so thankful that Rotary allowed me to become a member in 2002. Rotary is also able to provide me with a great circle of friends that are like-minded. I am thankful for this.
